A Cup of Tea

Normally I drink a cup of tea every morning before I head off to work. Since the Stem Cell Transplant, that has not been my desire. I've tried different flavors with little interest. Today I tried Earl Grey and it was good! I had two mugs full. What do you know. These things happen at different times. I measure progress by day and weekend. I still have some nausea and neuropathy is in full force. If anyone knows how to get rid of the vile side effect, I would be most grateful. Currently I am taking B vitamins and walking daily.

I visit the local doctor weekly. I go to our church's cancer support group every Tuesday. I'm looking for walking partners.

Thank you to those of you who read George's Blog. It is a good way to keep up to date. I'm not a great writer, so I'm counting on him.

Thanks so much to all my prayer partners.

I'm glad that you enjoyed your tea this morning! I bet it is nice to have some of the simple things back to "normal".
Wish I was closer I would love to be your walking partner. It is something that I need to get back to doing also.
It is great to "hear" your voice on your blog again. We have certianly appreciated the blogs. We check them daily for updates.
Praying for you all.

Jasmine tea, in a tiny little pearl form that unfolds as it hits the hot water, is the mildest, most gentle, and most fragrant tea that I have ever had. Perhaps a new variety to try! It's like drinking a flower!

Just read George's blog about the quilt retreat. Sounds wonderful. It would only be a one time thing, but Dad and Betty will walk with you. Wish I could! Jill

The Luedtke family is talking about a tea posy. They are cool. The company makes these "blooming" flowers that unfold in hot water. Quite nice! But my favorite brand tea is Republic of Tea-ginger peach or apricot. Yum! Glad to read your writing again! Continuing my prayers-Janice

I agree with the Little Prairie Spouse. The Republic of Tea's Ginger Peach is super-fantastic! I might have to say Ginger Peach and Jasmine are tied as my favorite teas! Both are lovely!

Perhaps a tea party? We all plan to drink a hot beverage at the same time on the same day and think of each other?!?!?

I propose 11/11 at 1:11 (in CA)/11:11 (in midwest) for the perfect day and time for a long-distant tea party! Vertical day is always a blast!

Susan, it's good to hear from you again! I don't know much about tea, so can't give you any advice, but so glad you enjoyed that cup of tea! I wish I could walk with you, but I'm still a working stiff! If you go ahead with that tea party, I'll head down to the break room and make me a cup of tea...even though I'm not a typical tea-lady, I'll be glad to take a break and toast a lovely lady! Wishing you pleasant walks and refreshing tea breaks. -Lotti D

Hi - my name is Shannon , I am 36 & my 50 yr old husband was DX with MM in Feb. 08 - he had a SCT in Aug. 08 & is now in remission. We have been through hell, his MM hit hi kidneys with not a lot of bone involvement & he was on dialysis for 1 year - he has been off of dialysis since April 09 & has regained approx. 30% of his kidney function. Right now life is good & we are pretty much back to normal - Scott is off work still - & runs low on energy at times, I give him a needle once every two weeks to boost his homoglobin & RBC's - he has monthly blood work to keep up with his kidney function & we see the cancer DR. every two months for monitoring. He has not been on any maintenance drugs since his SCT but does take a stomach pill (REALLY HELPS HIS NAUSEA - it is called Pantoprazole Sodium) he was on it during the SCT & then they took him off & he started feeling yucky so his kidney DR. put him back on it & he has no problem at all!!! We have two boys aged 5 & 7 so we are very busy but I have been able to do a lot of research & learned a lot more about blood results , cancer & kidneys then I ever really wanted to know. Scott is also on some suuplements that I can go into later if you are interested - he is doing remarkably well & his oncologist just told me to keep on doing what we are doing because they did not think he would recover this well. Please know that teh days do get better bit by bit & that the treatment options are getting better & better - I feel like we have been robber of our future a bit but that makes us "live for the day" which makes more sense anyway!
My email is shan.mccl@the-matrix.ca & I would love to talk to you guy's
Thansk - take care - Shannon
