Today was my last chemo treatment of “VDD” Velcade, Decadron, and Doxil. Next week is my week “off” from therapy. We have filled that rest week with tests that will have results sent to UCSF. On August 5 we load up the Honda CRV again and drive to UCSF to meet with Dr. Wolf, the scheduling nurse, and the social worker. I have to bring my support people with me. (Maggie says we don’t have a bus that big). The social worker wants to make sure that my 24 hour care givers will know how to tell if something is wrong. Apparently the social worker will let my insurance company know that I’m a good risk. So August 5th is a road trip to San Francisco. After that I should know more dates.
I’m looking forward to moving forward.

Another fellow MM patient(diagnosed at 35 yrs old 2007)- post transplant - 1year in complete remission. My prayers are with you - good luck. Even with all the information thrown at you, its hard to know what to expect after the transplant, but fear not - the actual transplant experience is really a lot less frightening than the anxiety leading up to the event. The doctors and nurses will know exactly what to do and when to do it. Advice I have - ask for what you need when you need it, and no matter how tired you may feel, try to get up and take a walk - or several short walks every day (it makes a huge difference in your speed of recovery), and don't beat yourself up if you can't eat - your taste buds will come back and the food will taste just that much better when you're able to enjoy it again. Life on the other side of the transplant is very enjoyable, if for nothing else, the knowing that the cancer is gone - finally. I wish you well. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at bubbynn@hotmail.com.

Hi, Susan! That last comment is so good. It's nice to get feedback from people who have gone through the same struggles! Well, I am back at my blogsite. Jamie gave me a lesson so please feel welcome to read my stuff. Sorry I didn't see your comment earlier. Love and prayers! Janice

You asked about The Ya Da Ya Da Prayer Group series. It's about a group of ladies with very little in common thrown together by God. They form a prayer group, all with different church backgrounds but find they can pray about their struggles together. The setting is Chicago. The main character is an elementary school teacher. Have you read any of Deborah Wiles' kids books? Love Janice

What great encouraging feedback from the MM patient who has been there and done that. My favorite: "life on the other side is very enjoyable" hugs, Maggie
