ouch - seriously

I can’t remember what I was going to write about because I have a new topic. I have experienced a new stage of neuropathy. I’ve had neuropathy since the third week. It isn’t too bad. A little tingling, my hands and feet feel hot and cold or can’t tell what they feel. I didn’t understand what the big deal was. Today I found out about the big deal. I’m kinda whining, but this is pain. I’m feeling pain behind my knee, around my ankle, in my arches and below my calves. The only relief from the pain is when I’m walking. It doesn’t let me sleep. I looked it up on www.cancercompass.com . Everyone agrees that this is the real kind of side effect. I haven’t been taking Demerol , but today Jess gave me a shot. No effect. I took multi vitamins, a banana, and cough syrup with codeine. It looks like if you have this effect, you shorten your Velcade treatment. Unfortunately, this is my week off, so there is nothing to shorten! I’ll call the advice nurse tomorrow, maybe they have some serious pain medication. Tonight I’m praying for sleep…

As I was sending prayers up to the Lord for your sleeplessness and pain, I thought of the verse that God "never slumbers nor sleeps". I will not be presumptuous(is that spelled right?), and say that this should comfort you, but the other night when I was up at 3 and barfing, it was good to know that someone else was up! And it wasn't Bruce! Love and prayers-Janice

Sue,
Sorry to hear about the nasty neuropathy. Sounds miserable. And not being able to sleep is a problem unto itself. Does listening to music, like an ipod, provide any distraction at night? I hope you can get some relief. I think of you a lot, even though you can't tell it. Love, Jill

Hey Susan,
It's Anna, I am so sorry I haven't called, posted comments or texted life has been crazy. I miss you friend it seems like every summer I mean to head out to Fresno, but my family, Randy and life always have other plans. You and your family are always on my mind and in my prayers. I love you! Demoral huh, sound like that gave you the fake stuff, lol. I am sorry that your not sleeping well, I will keep you in my prayers and if you find that you can't sleep, it is late at night and need someone to talk to; call me. I won't call you after 9:30 because I am afraid that you will be asleep, but if you want to call me at 10:00, 2:00, 6:00 AM I call. Don't even think twice about it. Love you lots!

Hi Sue,

We are following your progress with such admiration and anticipation for a complete remission. It's awesome that you have taken the time and energy to keep us all informed...half the worry is not knowing. Thank you.

Have missed you at the lake a couple of times now, but hope to be seeing you soon as a helper when you get back from SF. Hang in there, lady..you can do it.

Your name will be on Alison's sister-in-law's jersey as she trains for, and rides, the century bike race in Utah in Sept. for leukemia lymphoma. Alison has done 2 of those rides herself.

You are being well prayed for and held close, my dear.

Love,
Kathy
